Hello, I’m Zali

I’m a local, Olympic medallist and a former barrister. For the past five years I’ve been working passionately to represent Warringah in parliament and put forward sensible solutions to today’s challenges – from COVID to climate. Solving these challenges presents Australia with a new wave of opportunity. As your MP, I’m proud to stand up for you and make sure we catch it!

Introduced the Climate Change Bill

This built national consensus for legislating Net Zero by 2050 and climate action more broadly. The Bill received endorsement from BCA, ACTU, AMA and others.

Introduced a bill to stop Petroleum Exploration Permit 11 (PEP11)

Which would prevent oil and gas drilling off Manly, Curl Curl and Freshwater.

Advocated for increased and targeted support for local businesses during COVID-19 lockdowns

By working in close collaboration with Mosman, Manly and Warringah Chambers of Commerce.

Introduced the Sexual Discrimination Act Amendment Bill

This led to the Government introducing and passing similar legislation – the Sex Discrimination and Fair Work (Respect at Work) Amendment Bill 2021 that ensures sexual harassment is prohibited in all public life.

Successfully passed an amendment to ensure the review of the parliament’s culture is fair

By working with victims of discrimination and harassment in Parliament, the Government and crossbench. The final amendment was passed by all members.
