Supporting the Age of Criminal Responsibility to be raised

14 October, 2019

The age of criminal responsibility is currently 10-years-old where the law determines that children below this age do not have the capacity to infringe the criminal law and cannot be held responsible in criminal proceedings.

This needs to change. I am supporting Centre Alliance MP Rebekah Sharkie in calling for the criminal age of responsibility to raised to 14-years-old through the Crimes Legislation Amendment (Age of Criminal Responsibility) Bill 2019.
