STATEMENT: Operation Arctile
1 August 2025
As part of operation Arctile, the Australian Federal Police have charged an Artarmon resident with allegedly producing child abuse material while working at six out-of-school hours care centres across the North Shore. He has been in custody since October 2024.
The AFP and NSW Health have directly contacted the families of alleged victims at six centres where the abuse was alleged to have occurred. The police have also provided a list of centres where the man has worked, including some in Warringah, however there is no evidence to suggest the offending extended beyond the six centres identified.
This is incredibly distressing news, and my heart goes out to the impacted families.
As the investigation continues, my team and I will connect with the relevant authorities, Education Ministers and local councils for further updates and support available.
This will be a difficult and upsetting time for many. Anyone with wellbeing concerns is encouraged to seek support. The AFP have listed a number of free counselling and support services, as well as additional information about this operation at: afp.gov.au/news-centre/community-information/operation-arctile
