Zali Steggall presents NDIS petition on age discrimination
3 December, 2019
On the International Day of Disabilities, Zali Steggall MP presented a petition with 19,446 signatures calling on the government to extend the NDIS beyond 65 or for My Aged Care to better cater for people over 65 who need significant caring.
The petition was written by Chris English and his wife Bobbie. Chris was celebrating his 69th birthday when he fainted and fell down stairs, causing him to become a quadriplegic. But because he was over 65, and not already on the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Chris won't be covered by the NDIS.
