Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

16 December 2024

Team Zali

As the year draws to an end, I’d like to thank the Warringah Community for all their support over the last 12 months. Together we have certainly had a huge and productive year.

In 2024, we supported Warringah with nearly 14,000 constituent cases and secured $118 million in Federal Government grants for individuals, small businesses, and community groups.

Key funding achievements included $5 million for Manly Surf Club, $5.15 million for the Manly Warringah Gymnastics Centre of Excellence, and $2 million for Middle Head Oval upgrades. We launched a well-received seniors' guide and hosted events on aged care, small business, transport, housing and the NDIS.

Legislative achievements included progress on truth in political advertising, 16 adopted amendments such as merit-based AAT appointments and net-zero transition benefits for First Nations communities, and action on domestic violence, with unanimous party-wide support for my motion to keep driving reform to our national response to keeping women and children safe.

We also advanced climate risk solutions, developed a framework for addressing these risks, and continued advocacy for small business, cost-of-living relief, and housing affordability. These efforts reflect our commitment to delivering smart solutions and positive outcomes for Warringah and Australia.

Team Zali Volunteer event

It was wonderful to celebrate the end of the year with the Team Zali volunteers. It was a great chance to reconnect with many familiar faces and welcome some new ones too. The volunteers provide amazing support to my team throughout the year and it was a nice opportunity to all come together to reflect on our achievements in 2024.

We have planned more volunteer events for the new year and warmly invite anyone interested in getting involved to register their interest here.

New Electorate Office Location

New Office

I’m pleased to announce the relocation of the Warringah electorate office to the Manly Corso. The old office building is soon to be redeveloped, the Department has moved its Warringah electorate office to a more DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant and accessible site and we welcome the increased engagement with the Warringah Community with a streetfront location.

My team and I are here to help and look forward to hosting a community open day in the new year.

The new address is Units 4-6, 8-28 The Corso, Manly (located between the NAB and Coles Local).

Northern Beaches Police Area Command Awards Ceremony

It was an honour to attend the medal and award presentation for the Northern Beaches Police Area Command and hear stories of bravery from the frontline. Congratulations to the award winners and thank you to our local police for the incredible work they do in keeping Warringah safe.

Royal Far West 100th Birthday celebrations

It was a beautiful morning celebrating Royal Far West’s 100th birthday celebrations last week on Manly beachfront. They have been supporting the health and wellbeing of country children and their families in Manly since 1924. It was lovely to connect with so many of their team – past and present – who ‘have their feet in the sand, and their hands in the bush’ and are so dedicated to supporting country kids.

Walk Against Violence

I joined the community and the Northern Beaches Domestic Violence Network to walk in solidarity with those impacted by domestic and family violence. Violence against women remains at a crisis level. Every 10 minutes, a woman is murdered globally by a partner or family member. Here in Australia, 86 women have already lost their lives this year. It’s time for decisive action to protect women and families and to end the epidemic of violence.

School Presentations

Finally, I attended many school presentations around Warringah, and I’m always so excited to see our young people achieve great results.
